Nobody knows Aunt Hilda’s real name. Everyone at the Grand Trip Trap Hotel has always called her that way. And it was also “Aunt Hilda” that she wrote down in the hotel register, in 1837.
As the first resident of the Grand Trip Trap, it was there that she imagined her most beautiful tales, turning her room into a marvellous universe populated by fantastic characters.

This was the first of 3 of Trip Trap’s games we played during our stay. We came to Geneva solely to play these as the illustrations on the terpeca rankings always intrigued us. Our expectations were high but, as always, you try to temper your expectations.
There’s not much I was able to read online but I was reluctant to read too much anyway as I wanted to go in with an open mind. It’s fair to say that we were blown away by the beauty and detail of the scenery. It’s meticulously crafted and made of real, rustic treasures, clearly cleverly crafted and collected over months.
The story was written perfectly, leaving us a players completely unaware of what was going to greet us. As we entered we felt like children, rushing around to touch and view everything, searching high and low whilst exchanging our finds, secretly ignoring each other as we were so engrossed in what was in front of us. After a few minutes of soaking it all in, we finally began our quest.
The puzzles flowed perfectly and fit the story very well. The GM puzzle system was very fitting and unique, something we have no seen in 250 ER’s. The puzzles had a solid balance between physical, object placement and observation. If you like padlocks and codes then this room is not for you!
It’s fair to say the we could not wait to play the other two that we had booked. From the very first puzzle we discovered puzzles which we had not seen before which is incredibly refreshing.
This room is an absolute must play, definitely worth booking a trip to Geneva just to play at Trip Trap.

The theming is 1st class. So much effort put into every little detail of the game. The puzzles were very well themed and we can see why this is meant for larger teams.
Our GM was great, you will not be disappointed if you do this game!

Legends say that Aunt Hilda always told a new story to the ones willing to listen. As the blurb suggests, if you pay attention you will be brought into her world. You’ll get as immersed as you did when you vividly lived a story as kid when listening to adult storytellers. You are brought into a new world, with a stellar production and objects that belong in the era. No non-sense “walkie-talkies” nor unnecessary magnets.
